Chelsea Bennett is a sculptural ceramicist and surreal painter with a heavy focus on figurative studies. She has a BFA in Fine Art from the Columbus College of Art and Design.

Her sculpture and two dimensional work consists of a body of work that reflects life through the use of human anatomy. The work creates meaning through abstracting the human form, telling stories through movement and aesthetic qualities such as color and texture to evoke emotions from the viewer.

Bennett’s work explores positive and negative emotion through the use of facial expression, movement and using the layered qualities of multiple glaze and paint applications to create texture and depth.

Her current work relies on concepts of re-use and recycling. Specifically Bennett's paintings are created with material from old homes. Such as vinyl flooring from the 1950's and wood from country barns over a hundred years old. Often leaving inconsistencies in the materials surface. Such as dents, scratches and at times metal nails. These materials considered trash to the average person are literally her treasures. She reforms these old things into beautiful creations written from her own mind letting the voice of the material speaks.
